Capital District Community Gardens Welcomes New Board Members

(Troy, New York) - Capital District Community Gardens (CDCG) recently welcomed six new members to its Board of Directors.

The new board members, who will serve three-year terms, join an eighteen member board that actively participates in the organization’s program development and implementation. “We’re honored that these six accomplished individuals have decided to contribute their time and considerable talents to Capital District Community Gardens,” said Executive Director Amy Klein, “and we look forward to benefiting from their advice and participation.”

The new board members are as follows:

  • Charles Buchanan of Glenmont,  a community volunteer
  • Glen Casey of Albany,  Director of Client Development for The Vidal Group
  • Tom McGuire of Slingerlands, from First Niagara’s Commercial Real Estate Group
  • John Corey of Melrose,  President of Clever Fellow Innovations
  • Jean Gerbini of Delmar, an attorney with Whiteman Osterman & Hanna
  • Sonya Hotaling of Clifton Park, a Reverse Mortgage Loan Officer with M&T Bank

Capital District Community Gardens (CDCG) is a private, nonprofit organization that has been working with local residents for the more than 30 years to improve their neighborhoods through gardening and greening projects.  The organization manages 46 cooperative gardens and operates the innovative Veggie Mobile in Albany, Schenectady and Rensselaer Counties, plants hundreds of city street trees annually, and works with individuals, organizations and municipalities to improve the quality of life and appeal of our cities.
