TROY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
PLANT 40 TREES IN
TROY
Project organized by Capital District Community Gardens

 Who:      Troy High School students, community volunteers, and Capital District Community Gardens’ staff.

 What:     Volunteers and Capital District Community Gardens’ staff will spend the day planting 40 trees throughout the City of Troy, focusing on North Central Troy.          

 When:    A tree planting demonstration will be held on Friday, October 31st at 9am

 Where:   3134 6th Avenue between Douw St & Swift St in North Central Troy

 Details:  The City of Troy and Capital District Community Gardens (CDCG) are collaborating on an important streetscape improvement project.  Through CDCG’s Street Tree Planting program, Troy will benefit from 40 new trees. The planting is coordinated by Capital District Community Gardens and funded by a Community Development Block Grant from the City of Troy.  The day will begin with a tree-planting demonstration at 9am, at 3134 6th Avenue in North Central Troy.  The citywide tree plantings will take place all over Troy to aid in the city’s revitalization efforts and will particularly focus on the North Central Troy neighborhoods this year.

Capital District Community Gardens is a regional nonprofit community service organization that has been helping local residents improve their neighborhoods through community gardening and urban greening programs for more than  30  years. CDCG is dedicated to growing stronger communities through horticultural projects in the inner city and currently manages 48 cooperative neighborhood food gardens. The Veggie Mobile  brings fresh produce, at an affordable price, into low-income, inner-city neighborhoods in our community.
